Description
The cough suppressant dextromethorphan is present in 5X DMR. It functions by obstructing the brain’s cough receptor, which is known to trigger coughing. Dry cough is typically treated temporarily with 5X DMR. Chronic cough, cough brought on by smoking, emphysema, or asthma, are not treated by it. Coughing is a reflex motion that aids in removing any mucus or other irritants from the throat.
